Yaoi Con 2010

To my surprise, I knew someone on my flight to San Francisco. It was a guy from my Elementary Japanese 1 class. He was headed to Yaoi Con as well!!! So when I got to San Francisco, I was able to get lost with a friend.
THANK YOU!!!

Went to the opening ceremonies and took a lot pictures of the guests.

Went to Bishie bingo that night and did not win a thing. But I had a fun time watching all the bishies running around!

Found a Ryoma, 3 Eiji’s, Oishi, Kaido, and Inui.

The only Shitenhouji group I found at Yaoi Con.

Saturday –

Looked around the Dealer’s room quite a few times. Did not buy much.

Stood in line for over an hour for the Seriyuu panel. Thinking that it was first come, first serve for the autograph tickets. I was one of the first 15 people in line.

Got my a ticket for autograph session. When we got inside they told us that it was raffle. Did not win the raffle. I was really sad. My friends tried to cheer me up. I am very grateful to such wonderful friends!! Love ya, girls!

For dinner we went to In and Out Burger.

After dinner, went to the Bishie auction with everyone. I did bid on one of Seriyuus’ (Okiayu-sama) for $500, when I thought they were for sale individually. But they were sold as a pair and went for $11,000!!! I almost did win Okiayu-sama sweater he donated to the auction but $800 was little much for me. That is a little over a month’s rent.
But I did help out my friend buy a bishie at the auction. We got the “white rabbit.”

Got to wear his hat. Which was totally cool!

Sunday –

Went to the Bishie Bunch. It was not that great, they needed more food. But it was fun to see the bishies up close.

A couple of Bishies

Sat in line for the Seriyuu meet and greet for over hour. While I was in line, I sat next to three nice POT cosplayers.

Two Yuushi and Two Tezuka

Also, while waiting in line I had my picture taken with Ayano Yamane. She is soo pretty. I would post the picture but I reread the program later and it said that she did not want her picture taken. Sumimasen Yamane – san. *bows deeply*

While sitting in line, I asked a staff member if I could have my picture taken with seiryuus and I was told no. So I when it was my time to go in , I just shook their hands and thank them. Then later I found out that I could have my picture taken with them. So I went back over and asked a lady who happened to a VP of something, if I could have my picture taken with them. She said yes even though I had been through before. When it came my turn again, I think I pointed at Okiayu-sama. I learned in Japanese class that you should not to point at Japanese people. It is considered rude. But in my fan girl haze I forgot about this. Anyway, I got my picture taken with him and I would like to apologize to Okiayu – sama for my behavior. *bows deeply*

Over all Yaoi Con was fun. I only had one big issue with Yaoi Con that was with the autograph sessions. If they posted that they were going to be a raffle instead of first come first served, would have been able to see more of the convention and spent more time with my friends. ALSO, they said that the raffle numbers were picked at random but I know from my upper level math courses that 9 numbers in a row is not random. I wish had taken a picture of the list but I was so upset from not getting in that I forgot. Plus this probably would not be as such a sore spot for me but I was next number under the list of 9.

Finally thoughts:
I am glad I went to Yaoi Con? Yes.
Did I have fun at Yaoi Con? Yes most of the time
Will I go back to Yaoi Con? Not any time soon.

Ah that seemed so much fun!! I wish I can go to Ycon sometime soon. But first things first, gotta get plenty of cash in my pocket… :p

So, you can’t post your pic with Yamane? That’s sad ;( I was looking forward to see any bloggers’ pics with her!

Hi Tasukihoney, your coverage gives a different experience of Yaoi-con. And I’m glad to see photos of the seiyuu events. Thanks for sharing! 😀

Having your picture taken with Okiayu-san is priceless! XD I’m happy for you! Just from the number of cosplay alone, POT looks popular indeed.

Wow… $11,000!! where did the money come from O_O Is the Bishie auction for charity? :O

    • Thanks for coming Ponytale!!!

My picture is one of the high points of the convention!!!!
I think the auction is fundraiser for Yaoi Con. So the convention made a lot of money for this coming years convention. I believe it was a group of people who bought seiyuu’s .

That’s a great idea for a fundraiser. Maybe you can expect an even better Yaoi-con this year 😀

If you win the bishie auction, can you get the bishies to sign autographs and take photos with you? lol~ if so, then maybe should chip in some $$$ to bid with the group who won the seiyuus XDD

The con didn’t make money. Basically, the start of the bishies auctions was so BAD, that the seiyuus needed to offer themselves to help the con. Oh god, they used to be able to sell a bishie for hundreds of dollars, but year after year the bids got so low! I’ve been watching all along and feeling T__T for the con. That money isn’t enough to cover the expenses…
